Mangaluru : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested one more accused in the murder case of BJP Yuva Morcha member and Hindu activist Praveen Nettaru.
The accused, Abdul Rahiman, was taken into custody by NIA officials at Kannur International Airport in Kerala upon his arrival from Qatar on Friday. He had fled to Qatar to evade arrest after several others linked to the case were detained.
Earlier, the NIA had announced a reward for information leading to the arrest of Abdul Rahiman and five other absconding accused.
With this latest arrest, the NIA has so far filed a charge sheet against 28 individuals, including Rahiman. The agency’s investigation has revealed that Praveen Nettaru’s murder was part of a larger conspiracy allegedly directed by senior leaders of the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI).
Nettaru was brutally killed on July 26, 2022, in Bellare village of Sullia taluk, triggering widespread protests and public outrage across the region.
