Puttur : In view of the 33rd annual ‘Koti Chennaya Jodukere Kambaḷa’ scheduled to be held at the Deva Maru fields of Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple, the District Magistrate has issued a prohibitory order on liquor sales. All bars, wine shops, and liquor outlets within the Puttur city police station limits are ordered to remain closed from 6:00 AM on January 24 until 12:00 midnight on January 25.
Ensuring Public Safety and Order
The decision, taken by Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V., aims to maintain public peace and communal harmony during the mega event. As Puttur is considered a communally sensitive area and a massive crowd is expected for the Kambaḷa, the administration has implemented this measure to prevent miscreants from creating trouble or causing harassment under the influence of alcohol.
Strict Enforcement by Authorities
The order strictly prohibits the sale and distribution of any intoxicating substances during the specified period. Local authorities and the police department have been directed to ensure the effective implementation of this ban to avoid any law and order disruptions, ensuring that the traditional folk sport concludes smoothly and safely for all participants and spectators.
