Puttur : RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat appeared before the Puttur Rural Police Station for questioning on Wednesday evening, in connection with the controversial remarks he allegedly made during a public event. He attended the station following a notice issued by the investigating officer of the Puttur Rural Police.
The controversy stems from a speech delivered by Mr. Bhat at a ‘Deepotsava’ program held in Uppalige, Puttur Taluk, on October 20. The content of the speech was accused of being inflammatory, promoting religious hatred, defaming women’s dignity, and potentially endangering public peace.
A formal complaint was lodged at the Puttur Rural Police Station by women’s rights activist Eshwari Padmunja. Based on this complaint, a case was registered against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and the event organizers on October 25.
Due to an existing court directive instructing the police not to take any coercive action against Mr. Bhat, it is understood that the police likely recorded his statement and released him. The investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
