Bengaluru : Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today said that he has asked the industrialists and businessmen not tarnish the image of Bengaluru while assuring them of looking into their suggestions.
Speaking to reporters after participating in a public interaction as part of Walk with Bengaluru programme at Cubbon Park, he said, “I have told them that their criticisms will make international news. I had interaction with Mohandas Pai, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and others. They have given good suggestions for Bengaluru. We have included them in advisory committees.”
Redline metro
Asked about DPR prepared by BMRCL for Redline metro, he said, “We will submit a memorandum to the Union Minister who will visit Bengaluru on October 30. The Centre is only contributing 12-13% of the funds and the rest is being borne by the state.”
Meeting with Tejaswi Surya
Asked about widespread praise for development projects in Bengaluru, he said, “Everyone is supporting the development except Tejaswi Surya. I am not opposed to those who criticize but they should give alternative plans if they oppose a plan. We will consider their suggestions if they make sense. I have given him time for a meeting on Tuesday.”
Foundation stone laying for 100 Congress offices
Asked about inviting Rahul Gandhi for laying the foundation stone for the 100 Congress party offices, he said, “We have taken up construction of 100 party offices to mark the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi taking over as the President of Congress party. Rahul Gandhi will lay the foundation stone. The construction has already started in many places.”
Remove banners
Asked about illegal banners being used for Walk with Bengaluru programme, he said, “We will remove the banners no matter who has put them up. It was put up as it was a government programme. Action will be taken if illegal banners are put up.”
“We will extend Walk with Bengaluru programme to other areas. These will be conducted on weekends from now on,” he added.
Asked about Kumaraswamy’s statement that Congress government was involved in corruption, he said, “Let him take it if loot money is in our pocket. B khata conversion was introduced to help people as they were not getting loans from banks.”
Asked about High Command directing for Cabinet expansion sometime ago, he said, “The CM will comment on this.”
