Mangaluru : A tragic road accident occurred on Monday on ‘National Highway 66’ at Pangala, resulting in the death of a scooter rider after a collision with a private bus. The deceased has been identified as ‘Krishna’, a resident of Padukere. The incident took place when Krishna was reportedly entering the highway from a service road.
According to sources, the victim was riding his scooter from the service road towards the main highway when a ‘private bus’ traveling from Udupi to Mangaluru crashed into the two-wheeler. The impact of the collision left the rider with ‘critical injuries’. Although he was rushed to a nearby private hospital immediately, he failed to respond to treatment and breathed his last.
The accident caused a temporary ‘traffic snarl’ as the bus came to a halt in the middle of the busy highway. ‘Saurabh Ballal’, the District President of NSUI who was at the spot, assisted in moving the bus to the side of the road to clear the congestion. The ‘Kaup Police’ arrived at the scene shortly after to conduct an inspection and have registered a case for further investigation.
