Ujire: With the noble objective of bringing education to the doorstep of the common man, several educational institutions have been established in Ujire. Such institutions play a pivotal role in the overall development of the town, said D. Harshendra Kumar, Secretary of SDM Educational Institutions. He was speaking at the centenary celebration of SDM Higher Primary School, Ujire, held on Friday.
Support for Kannada Medium Schools: Emphasizing the importance of supporting Kannada medium education, he mentioned that special bus facilities have been provided for the benefit of students attending schools run by the Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Dharmothana Trust in Puduvettu, Byndoor, Perinje, Belalu, and Kanchana. He expressed happiness over the increasing enrollment in these schools, attributing the success to the active cooperation of the local community and the dedicated service of the teaching staff.
Honoring Retired Teachers: As part of the centenary milestone, eleven teachers who rendered long and meritorious service at the school were honored. The felicitated retired teachers include Premlatha, Vishalakshi, M. Sanjeeva Gowda, Nalini, Mohana S. Jain, Ramesh Achar, Shanta, Harshakumar, Shashikala, Jayabharathi, and Somashekhara Shetty.
Dignitaries Present: The event was attended by Ujire Gram Panchayat President Ushakiran Karant and Block Education Officer (BEO) Tarakesari. Dr. Audrama, Registrar of Bagalkot University and a distinguished alumnus of the school, along with S. Satishchandra, Secretary of SDM Educational Institutions, extended their best wishes. Sharath Krishna Padvetnaya, President of the Centenary Celebration Committee, welcomed the gathering, and Headmaster Balakrishna Nayak delivered the vote of thanks.
