Mangaluru : Several Muslim organizations to call for a bandh following the brutal murder of a youth from Kolthamajalu.
A stone pelting was reported near Surathkal on Wednesday. Miscreants allegedly targeted a bus traveling from Mangaluru to Kinnigoli by throwing stones at it.
Prohibitory orders have been enforced under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarika Suraksha Sanhite, 2023. These orders are in effect within the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate limits and five taluks of Dakshina Kannada district.
Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal issued the prohibitory orders for the city limits, while Dr. Anand K, the in-charge Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Dakshina Kannada, imposed similar restrictions on May 27 across Bantwal, Beltangady, Puttur, Kadaba, and Sullia taluks. The decision followed a report from the Superintendent of Police, warning of potential threats to public peace and order.
The prohibitory measures will remain in force from 6 PM on May 27 until 6 PM on May 30
