Udupi : A speeding express bus travelling from Mangaluru towards Karkala collided with a scooter and killing its rider on National Highway 66 near Hejmadi old NBC Road on Friday afternoon,
The deceased has been identified as Tushar (20), a resident of Kodi Manampady in Hejmadi.
The accident occurred when Tushar, who was on duty, attempted to cross the highway from the Hejmadi inner road toll gate towards Mulki on his scooter. The bus, coming at high speed, hit him, causing the scooter to get trapped under the vehicle’s front.
Tushar sustained severe head and chest injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Mukka by the Hejmadi toll ambulance, but despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries in the evening.
Tushar was employed with Project India Company at the New Mangalore Port.
A case has been registered at Padubidri police station. He is survived by his mother and three brothers.
