Mangaluru : In a significant recognition of his contributions to sports journalism, renowned sports columnist S. Jagadishchandra Anchan Sooterpete was honored with the prestigious interstate “Kannada Payaswini Achievement Award – 2026.” The award was presented on Sunday as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Kasaragod Kannada Bhavana. The ceremony took place during the “Kannada Bhavana Rajata Sambhrama – Naadu Nudi Habba” event held at Nullippady in Kasaragod.
The event was graced by several prominent personalities from the fields of literature, education, and social service. The award was presented in the presence of K. Vaman Rao, the Founding President of Kannada Bhavana, and Director K.N. Venkatramana Holla. Other dignitaries on the stage included former President of the Karnataka Beary Academy Ayisha Perla, educationist V.B. Kulavarma, and Dr. Jayaprakash Narayana Tottettodi, President of the Kerala Border Unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
The gathering also saw the participation of writer Jayananda Peraje, Ravi Naikapu, President of the Kasaragod District Kannada Medium Journalists’ Welfare Association, and Ratna Halappa Gowda, the Mysuru District President of the Chutuku Sahitya Parishat. Officials of the Kannada Bhavana, including Treasurer Sandhyarani Teacher and Secretary Vasanth Keremane, were also present to witness the felicitation of the columnist for his dedicated service to the field of sports writing across state borders.
