Mangaluru : The All College Student Union – Mangalore Division collaborated with St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) to successfully organize the commemoration of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and the 75th National Constitution Day. The event, held at the Robert Sequeira Hall this morning, was marked by a series of significant ceremonies and insightful discussions aimed at reinforcing democratic and civic values among the youth.
The program began formally with traditional rituals, including offering floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and the lighting of the lamp, signifying knowledge and justice. Following the welcoming remarks by Ms. Dravya T. S., Divisional Vice-President, the sanctity of the Constitution was reaffirmed. Mr. Muliya Sathwik, Divisional President, led the Reading of the Preamble, after which the Constitution Day Oath was administered by Mr. Rayyan Zahi Khan, the Vice Chancellor’s Nominee.
The event featured compelling speeches from key dignitaries. Dr. Charles Furtado, Director of the Administrative Block, emphasized the continuing relevance of constitutional values in cultivating civic responsibility. Guest of Honor Ms. Maria Shaila Dsouza, Assistant Professor, spoke on the need to cultivate a spirit of inclusiveness and unity. The Chief Guest, Adv. Nandakishore Polya of the Mangalore District Court, delivered the keynote, describing the Constitution as a “living document” and highlighting the significance of fundamental duties in upholding democratic principles.
The formal proceedings culminated in an active Panel Discussion involving faculty and students, focusing on essential topics like constitutional rights, justice, and social harmony. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Muliya Sathwik and the National Anthem, serving as a meaningful tribute to the Constitution’s architect and reaffirming the collective respect for the Constitution of Bharat.
