Sullia : A young student from Sullia, Nandan S Bhat (25), tragically lost his life on Monday after slipping and falling while visiting a waterfall in Mauritius. Bhat was in the country on a student visa, pursuing a diploma in hospitality and tourism.
Nandan S Bhat is the son of Jayalakshmi of Nadugallu, Kallaje, near Subrahmanya. According to reports, the fatal mishap occurred when Nandan was sightseeing at the waterfall, where he accidentally slipped and fell to his death. His body is currently being held at the Victoria Hospital in Mauritius pending official procedures.
Following the incident, the family swiftly mobilized efforts to bring the body back to India. Nandan’s maternal uncle, Satyanarayana Bhat from Karkala, appealed directly to local representative MP Kota Srinivas Poojary to help facilitate the repatriation process through coordination with the Mauritian and Indian governments.
Responding to the urgent request, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary immediately urged External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar to take the necessary action. Separately, Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta also informed the central government of the tragedy and requested all possible assistance to ensure the deceased student’s body is brought back to India as quickly as possible.
