Udupi : The district unit of the BJP said on Sunday that activist Mahesh Shetty Timarodi should be arrested, alleging that he has defamed the Dharmasthala temple and its administrators by using the SIT probe into the alleged burial of bodies in Dharmasthala village more than a decade ago.
President of the BJP district unit, Kutyar Naveen Shetty, said in a statement that the Manjunatha temple at Dharmasthala is revered by many Hindus. But Mr. Timarodi, using social media, has defamed the place of worship with baseless allegations. “He is spoiling the health of society by making false allegations,” Mr. Shetty alleged.
The BJP leader said that the party has filed a complaint against Mr. Timarodi in Udupi Town Police Station seeking action for his “inflammatory” social media posts.
