New York : US President Donald Trump has claimed that 48 Iranian political and military leaders have been killed so far in ongoing military operations against Iran. Describing the mission as a “huge success,” Trump stated during an interview with Fox News that the progress of the strikes has been faster than anyone anticipated. He emphasized that the elimination of 48 high-ranking figures in a single wave of attacks demonstrates that the US military action is well ahead of its original schedule.
In a significant diplomatic update, President Trump revealed that Iran’s new leadership has already reached out to the United States and expressed a desire to engage in negotiations. Trump noted that while he has agreed to talk, he believes the Iranian administration should have sought a compromise much earlier rather than attempting to be “overly smart”. He observed a complex situation on the ground, noting that while people are reportedly cheering in the streets, the region remains under heavy bombardment.
These developments follow the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a joint US-Israeli strike, which has sent regional tensions to an all-time high. Analysts view this as the most decisive and volatile moment for Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. As the old regime faces collapse and a new leadership emerges to talk with Washington, the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East appears to be undergoing a fundamental and rapid transformation.
