Udupi : Karkala Congress leader Uday Shetty Muniyal has lauded the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, describing it as a comprehensive plan focused on the all-round development of Karnataka. He emphasized that the budget meticulously addresses the needs of the common man, reflecting the government’s commitment to social welfare. Significant highlights include the doubling of the financial assistance for fishing equipment kits from ₹10,000 to ₹20,000, which will directly benefit the coastal community. Furthermore, the establishment of a Center of Excellence at the College of Fisheries in Mangaluru to promote marine biotechnology and sea farming marks a major step toward modernizing the blue economy.
The budget also outlines ambitious plans for infrastructure and education, with the proposed construction of fish markets across Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Bagalkot districts. In the education sector, a substantial allocation of ₹3,900 crore has been made under the slogan “Better Learning, Bright Future.” This initiative aims to upgrade 800 schools into Karnataka Public Schools to provide high-quality education under one roof. Mr. Muniyal stated that by focusing on both grassroots industries like fisheries and long-term educational milestones, the state government has proven its dedication to reaching the last person in society.
