Udupi: The Malpe police have arrested a fifth individual in connection with a high-profile case involving the transmission of confidential information related to naval vessels. The accused has been identified as 21-year-old Alif Islam, son of the late Ejazul Islam. While originally a resident of Bargaria village in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, he was currently residing in a rented house at Marayur village in the Idukki district of Kerala.
Following a tracking operation, the police apprehended the accused on February 16, 2026. He was produced before the court on February 17 and has been remanded to judicial custody until February 21, 2026. According to police sources, there is a strong suspicion that the accused may be a Bangladeshi national, and further investigations are underway to verify his credentials and the extent of the security breach.
