ULLAL: A tragic accident occurred at Sevanthiguttu near Kallapu on Tuesday morning, where a laborer lost his life after being buried under a collapsing heap of soil. The deceased has been identified as Balappa, a resident of Hanumakatte in Hungund Taluk, Bagalkote district. He was engaged in building a safety retaining wall behind a house when the disaster struck.
Tragedy During Construction Work: On Tuesday morning, four migrant laborers—Balappa, Hanumantha, Bhimappa, and Shivu—were working at the site with the assistance of a JCB machine. While they were busy with the construction, a massive portion of the steep hill behind the house suddenly gave way. In this horrific turn of events, three of the laborers were instantly buried under the falling soil.
Valiant Rescue Efforts Fail to Save Life: Two of the workers, Hanumantha and Bhimappa, miraculously escaped with minor injuries. However, Balappa was deeply trapped under the heavy debris and sustained critical injuries. Although locals rushed to the spot and made desperate efforts to dig him out, Balappa had unfortunately breathed his last by the time he was extricated. The incident has left the local community in a state of shock and mourning.
