Mangaluru : Renowned archaeologist Prof. T. Murugeshi, who has dedicated over two decades to the study, documentation, and preservation of Tulunadu’s rich history, archaeology, and cultural heritage, was felicitated by the Tuluworld Foundation (R.) during his recent visit to the historic site of Ninnikallu Pade. The honor comes in light of him being selected for the prestigious Dr. Srinivasa Havanur Award for 2026 by the Karnataka History Academy. Having retired as an Associate Professor from Shirva MSRS College and currently serving as a founding trustee of Adhima Kale Trust, Prof. Murugeshi has played a pivotal role in creating public awareness regarding the conservation of historic landmarks and inspiring young researchers.
The felicitation program was attended by several dignitaries, including Sachin Shetty Taggunje, Convener of Tuluva Mahasabha Australia; Dr. Rajesh Krishna Alva, Director of Tuluworld Foundation; Suresh Karkera, veteran journalist and retired Mid-Day reporter; Aravinda Belchada, Convener of Tuluveshwara Temple; Vijith Shetty, Convener of Ninnikallu Pade; as well as trustees of the Ajri Taggunje Foundation (R.). Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries emphasized that safeguarding ancient archaeological remains, religious monuments, and local heritage is a collective responsibility of society, requiring active collaboration between researchers, cultural organizations, and local communities. Members of the Tuluworld Foundation and Tuluva Mahasabha extended their warm congratulations to Prof. Murugeshi and wished him continued success in his research endeavors.
