
Mangaluru : Legislative Council member Ivan D’Souza said that Nadaprabhu Kempegowda’s visionary administration of that time has brought modern Bangalore to global recognition.
He was speaking while inaugurating the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti program held at the Ravindra Kala Bhavan of the city’s University College on Friday under the joint auspices of the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Kannada and Culture Department in collaboration with University College Mangalore.
Due to Kempegowda’s thoughtful administration, hundreds of lakes have been built in Bangalore and the environment of the capital is now balanced. He had improved the highways entering the city and also emphasized on the development of religious places. He said that today’s youth should imbibe his idealistic thoughts.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Jokim Stanley Alvaris said that Kempegowda’s pro-development vision is a model for modern governments. He said that his Jayanti celebration is commendable.
Aikala Pompoi College Principal Dr. Purushottam KV delivered a lecture. Karnataka cashew Development Corporation President Mamata D.S. Gatty, University College Principal Dr. Ganapathi Gowda, Mangalore Tahsildar Prashant Patil, Vokkalika Sangha District President Balakrishna D.B, Vokkaliga District Matru Sangha President Lokayya Gowda, and others were present at the function.
Assistant Director of Kannada and Literature Department Rajesh G welcomed the gathering.
