Ujire (Belthangady): Chanting devotional hymns at home every morning and evening for at least an hour with a pure body, mind, and speech fosters a deeply fulfilling and blessed life, stated His Holiness Sri Vidyaprasannatheertha Swamiji of Subramanya Matha. He was speaking after inaugurating the 28th annual Bhajana Training Workshop at Mahotsava Sabha Bhavana in Dharmasthala on Monday.
The Swamiji noted that in Kali Yuga, strict penance by giving up food and water is impractical for most people. Therefore, utilizing the body, mind, tongue, and wisdom bestowed by God to engage in sincere ‘Bhajana’ (devotional singing) brings peace, happiness, and contentment. He commended Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade and Smt. Hemavathi Heggade for preserving and expanding the tradition of ‘Chaturdana’ while awakening spiritual awareness, noble values, and devotional culture across households.
Presiding over the function, Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade advised the trainees to become torchbearers of development in their respective villages. He urged them to emerge as ideal leaders dedicated to rural progress while inculcating rich devotional traditions in children. Sri Mohandas Swamiji of Manikila offered his blessings for the event.
Distinguished dignitaries including Hemavathi V. Heggade, D. Harshendra Kumar, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, Nischal Kumar, and Aishwarya Nischal Kumar were present on the dais. A captivating dance performance by Vidushi Chaitra Bhat Dharmasthala and her troupe added a special cultural charm to the occasion.
The workshop’s convener, Subramanya Prasad, welcomed the gathering, while Dakshina Kannada District Coordinator Santosh P. Aliyoor delivered the vote of thanks. School teacher Nishanth hosted the ceremony, which concluded with the chanting of Shanti Mantra led by Dr. Shashikanth Jain. A total of 204 delegates representing 123 Bhajana Mandalis are participating in this workshop.
