Udupi : The Udupi Town police arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in an attempt to steal articles from Mahishamardhini temple at Kadiyali in Udupi in the early hours of Saturday.
The accused were identified as J.J. Kiran and Vishnu, both residents of Thiruvananthapuram.
In a complaint, Vijay Raghava, president of the Temple Management Committee, said the temple security guard saw one of the two miscreants attempting to break open the lock of the temple door and enter inside around 1 a.m. When the guard rushed to catch them, the duo escaped.
In a statement, the police said a team led by Inspector Manjunath Badiger caught Kiran and Vishnu near Kadiyali petrol bunk. The two were produced before the jurisdictional court, the police said.
