Davangere : The Chief Minister today spoke to the media at the Davangere helipad, addressing several pressing issues facing the state.
Regarding Luxury Facilities at Parappana Agrahara Jail: The Chief Minister addressed the controversy surrounding luxury amenities reportedly being provided to inmates at Parappana Agrahara Jail. He stated that the concerned officers were on leave when the matter first surfaced.
He confirmed that the Home Minister has called a review meeting on Monday to discuss the lapses. Strict action will be taken against those found responsible, and measures will be implemented to ensure such incidents do not recur in the future.
On RSS Leader Mohan Bhagwat’s Statement: Responding to RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat’s comment that the RSS, having existed since the British era, should have registered back then, the Chief Minister clarified the government’s stance.
He stated that the government order does not mention excluding the RSS. The order merely mandates that any organization must seek permission from the respective Deputy Commissioner (District Collector) to hold events.
He added that they (RSS) may have assumed the order was about them, but stressed, “We cannot respond to everything that Bhagwat says.”
Taluk and Zilla Panchayat Elections: When questioned about the Taluk and Zilla Panchayat elections, the Chief Minister said the matter is currently pending before the court. The elections will be conducted once the court issues directions on when they should be held.
Sugar Factory Owners and Government Decision: Addressing the opposition expressed by sugar factory owners regarding the state government’s decision on sugarcane pricing, the Chief Minister asserted that the decision was finalized in the owners’ presence.
He reiterated that the mandated extra ₹50 must be paid by everyone. He expressed hope that even those currently refusing to pay will eventually comply with the decision.
Action Against Non-Compliant Sugar Factory Owners: Responding to the opposition raised by political leaders like Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, the Chief Minister firmly stated that action will be taken against any sugar factory owner who fails to follow the government’s order.
Crop Damage Due to Heavy Rains (Ativrushti): In response to a query about the Central government fixing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, the Chief Minister stated that heavy rains have caused crop damage across 11 lakh hectares in the state. He assured that compensation will be provided to the affected farmers.
Representation for Valmiki Community in Cabinet: Regarding the demand to provide a cabinet position to a member of the Valmiki community, the Chief Minister stated that the matter will be considered when the state cabinet is restructured.
