Bengaluru : State Minister Priyank Kharge stated on Saturday that the Karnataka government will act against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) strictly within the parameters of the law. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he explained that the government is currently studying the organization and its century-old history before determining its next course of action. When asked whether he had received a response to the letter he addressed to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat regarding the organization’s registration status and other matters, the Minister remarked that he never expected a reply in the first place, emphasizing that the RSS currently operates outside the legal ambit and that he intends to bring them under the law.
Highlighting that nearly a month and a half has passed since he first raised the issue, Kharge noted that the government requires time to thoroughly evaluate the RSS’s 100-year history, taunting that the organization itself lacks an understanding of its own past. Criticizing RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, the Minister questioned their authority to issue certificates of patriotism, pointing out that an unregistered body has no right to judge who is a patriot or a traitor. Declining to disclose specific legal steps if no response is received to his letter, Kharge stated that revealing plans prematurely would eliminate the element of surprise and weaken the legal strategy, assuring that the government will proceed as planned.
