Karkala : MLA V. Sunil Kumar has directed the concerned authorities to undertake the urgent development of roads within the Karkala Town Municipality limits that were damaged during the laying of water pipelines.
Under the Central Government-sponsored AMRUT 2.0 scheme, a comprehensive development of the existing drinking water supply system was planned for the Karkala Town Municipal Council area. This required digging up major roads across the town for the installation of new water pipelines.
As a result of this pipeline work, key roads in major parts of Karkala, including Anantashayana Thallaru Road, Main Road, Court Road, Bandimath, and Pervaje roads, have been severely damaged. This has caused significant inconvenience to the public and hindered smooth vehicular traffic. The MLA stressed the need to immediately develop all damaged roads now that the pipeline work is complete.
In a meeting held today, the departmental officials provided information on the progress. They stated that the Ramasamudra Road work is currently underway. They assured that immediately after its completion, the Anantashayana Thellaru Road work will commence within two days. They further confirmed that the remaining road works would be started phase-wise on a priority basis and developed as quickly as possible.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District, officials of the Karkala Town Municipality, and officials from the Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board Department.
