Mangaluru: Kavoor Police successfully apprehended two individuals on Tuesday morning for attempting to sell illicit drugs, specifically Ganja and MDMA, near the Phalguni River at Bangra-Kuloor. The arrested accused have been identified as Shafi Ahmed (40) from Tumakuru and Muhammad Sameer (20).
Police confiscated drugs and other materials valued at approximately ₹80,000. The seizure included 12 grams of MDMA (worth ₹70,000) and 275 grams of Ganja (worth ₹10,000), in addition to two mobile phones. The accused confessed to the police that they had purchased the narcotics from Bengaluru with the intention of selling them in Mangaluru.
A check into the background of the accused revealed significant criminal histories. Shafi Ahmed, the 40-year-old accused, has 9 previous cases registered against him and was absconding, having failed to appear before the court in multiple instances. Muhammad Sameer has 1 registered case against him.
The operation was executed by a team from the Kavoor Police Station, under the guidance of Mangaluru North Zone ACP Sreekanth K. The team included Police Inspector Raghavendra Baindoor, Sub-Inspector Mallikarjun, ASI Chandrashekhar, and staff members Reji M, Halesh Naik, and Riyaz.
