Mangaluru : A Vibrant Celebration of Humanity The spirit of Christmas—centered on new beginnings, joy, and the service of mankind—was celebrated with grand splendor at the Snehalaya Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center in Manjeswaram. Titled “Christmas Sambhrama – 2025,” the event was a magnificent fusion of cultural artistry and humanitarian values. The celebration brought together a massive crowd to witness a program that honored both the birth of Christ and the selfless service provided by the institution.
A Cultural Extravaganza The evening featured a “super combo” of cultural feasts that captivated the audience. A standout performance was delivered by world record holder Ms. Remona Evette and her team ‘Horizon,’ who enacted the story of Jesus’ birth through a breathtaking Bharatanatyam performance. The musical atmosphere was equally enchanting, with celebrity singers Joshal and Jason performing melodious carols under the direction of master musician Sanjay Rodrigues. High-energy dance performances by ‘Urban Groove’ and the ‘GG100’ chorus group, led by Stany Bela, added to the festive glory.
Messages of Love and Unity Distinguished guests shared profound messages of unity and compassion. The Chief Guest, Rt. Rev. Hemachandra Kumar, Bishop of the Church of South India (CSI), blessed the inmates and reminded everyone to see the presence of Christ in every humanitarian act. Dr. Vasanth Shetty of Saanidhya group of institutions touched hearts by drawing parallels between the teachings of Christ and Krishna, emphasizing the commonality among all religions. Additionally, Shri Harshad Vorkady, a newly elected member of the Kasargod District Panchayat, praised Bro. Joseph Crasta’s humble mission, while Shri Joseph Elias Menezes delivered a poetic message on the responsibility of supporting institutions where the “real Christ” is reborn through service.
Honoring Selfless Service A poignant highlight of the day was the recognition of Shri Eshwar Malpe, a dedicated social worker known for risking his life in dangerous situations to save others. In a heart-throbbing address, Malpe shared his personal struggles—including the loss of a child and caring for his two specially-abled children—while affirming his commitment to serving society without seeking wealth or fame. His presence served as a powerful reminder of the impact of a good-hearted individual on society.
Conclusion of the Festivities The event was warmly hosted by Bro. Joseph Crasta, who welcomed the gathering, and Mrs. Olivia Crasta, who proposed the vote of thanks. The entire program was seamlessly executed and compered by Mr. Geo D’Silva and Ms. Shanthi Priya Lasrado.
