Classical Dance Event ‘Aasvada’ and Interactive Session Concludes in Mangaluru

Mangaluru : A unique classical dance program titled “Aasvada,” centered on the theme of perception, understanding, and appreciation, was held on Saturday evening at the Hindi Prachara Bhavan in the city to enhance the understanding and conceptual thinking of classical dance among students and spectators. The event, featuring a performance and interactive session, was organized by Nadanritya School of Dance and Cultural Trust (R) in collaboration with the Department of Kannada and Culture, Bengaluru, as part of their monthly event series.

Dr. Varadesh Hiregange, President of the M.P.E.A.S. Trust, Manipal, inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp. The event started with a captivating Bharatanatyam recital by Dr. Bhramari Shivaprakash that won wide applause from the audience. Initiating the academic discussion Dr Varadesh commended Vidushi Dr. Bhramari Shivaprakash, guru at the institute , for her structured and distinct approach to passing down classical dance traditions to the younger generation.

Prof. Smita Shenoy, who anchored the program, remarked that Dr. Bhramari’s efforts to instill intellectual maturity and cultural roots in children beyond just technical training are highly commendable. In response, Vidushi Dr. Bhramari Shivaprakash emphasized that interactive learning significantly aids children in developing a deeper awareness and critical appreciation of art.

During the interactive session, Vinutha Bhat, Anjali Sonsa, Prof. A.P. Rao, and Preetha Nayak shared their perspectives.
