Puttur: In a display of professional unity, Sudhakar Suvarna, the district correspondent for Vijaya Karnataka, has been elected unopposed as the President of the Puttur Taluk unit of the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association for the next three-year term. The election process took place on Wednesday at the Patrika Bhavan in Puttur.
The Election Process and Key Appointments The election was conducted under the leadership of the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association, following the directives of the state-level Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association. Alongside the President, C. She. Kajemaru, a senior correspondent for Suddi Bidugade, was also elected unopposed as the General Secretary of the association. Vijay Kotian Padu, the Treasurer of the District Association, served as the Election Officer, while District General Secretary Rajesh Poojary facilitated the process.
A Model of Unanimity The election schedule had originally slated December 28 for voting if necessary. However, since only one nomination was received for each post during the filing and scrutiny process, the election officers declared the entire team elected unopposed. Other key appointments include Karunakara Rai C.H. (Editor, Suddi Bidugade) and M.S. Bhat (Udayavani correspondent from Uppinangady) as Vice Presidents. The election officers presented certificates to all 15 members of the governing body, praising the journalists of Puttur for setting an exemplary precedent of harmony for society.
Handover and Future Vision Outgoing President Siddique Neeraje and outgoing General Secretary Shashidhar Rai Kutyala congratulated the new team and extended their best wishes for the upcoming term. In their acceptance remarks, the newly elected President Sudhakar Suvarna and General Secretary C. She. Kajemaru expressed their gratitude to all members for the trust placed in them. They reaffirmed their commitment to the welfare of journalists and the strengthening of the association in the region.
