Mangaluru : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally lodged a complaint with the Speaker regarding the alleged misconduct of B.K. Hariprasad and Ravi. Following the complaint, the Speaker referred the matter to the House Ethics Committee for further investigation. However, Pratap Simha Nayak has raised concerns over the ruling party whip’s request to the Speaker to reconsider this referral. He emphasized that the Speaker must not yield to such requests or withdraw the complaint from the Ethics Committee. Furthermore, he demanded a thorough investigation into the incident involving the tearing of B.K. Hariprasad’s shirt to bring out the truth behind the chaos in the house.
Nayak further criticized the state government, claiming that the Congress is deliberately creating controversies to distract the public from internal issues. He pointed out that discussions regarding the change of Chief Minister and allegations of total administrative failure are currently dominating the state’s political landscape. To shift the focus, the government is reportedly using the ‘Z-Ramji Bill’ introduced by the Central Government as a tool for controversy. He accused the ruling party of using these tactics to prevent the opposition from raising critical issues during the ongoing session.
The BJP leader also alleged that during this special session, not only the ruling party MLAs but even the ministers are obstructing the opposition from speaking. He claimed that the Congress party’s intention seems to be to conclude the entire session amidst din and commotion without any meaningful debate. The press conference saw the presence of Legislative Council member Kishore Kumar Puttur, along with leaders Rajagopal Rai, Sujit Pratap, Ravindra Shetty Ulidottu, Shobhendra Sasihithlu, and Vasantha Poojary.
