Mangaluru : A tragic road accident occurred near Palli Adapady in Karkala on Thursday, where a young motorcyclist lost his life after being hit by a tipper truck from behind. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Ganesh Nayak, a resident of Hiriyadka. The incident took place while he was traveling toward Hampankatta on his motorcycle, highlighting the ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the region.
According to reports, the accident was caused by the high speed and reckless driving of the tipper truck driver. The truck struck the rear of the motorcycle with such force that Ganesh was thrown onto the road along with his vehicle. Despite wearing a helmet for protection, the impact was fatal as the rear wheels of the heavy vehicle ran over his head, causing him to succumb to his injuries instantly at the spot.
The Karkala Town Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to conduct an inspection and shifted the body for further procedures. A case has been officially registered against the truck driver for negligent driving. The police are currently conducting a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the collision and have cautioned heavy vehicle drivers to maintain speed limits in residential and narrow stretches.
