Bantwal : The Bantwal police have apprehended two individuals for allegedly attempting to circulate counterfeit currency notes. During the successful operation, officials seized fake notes with a total face value of ₹2.38 lakh. The arrested suspects have been identified as 28-year-old Mohammed Sameer and 26-year-old Mohammed Irfan.
The arrests were made following precise intelligence regarding the circulation of counterfeit money within Bantwal taluk. Acting on this information, the police intercepted the duo, who were reportedly in possession of high-value fake notes and were actively looking for opportunities to use them in the local market.
In addition to the counterfeit currency, the police confiscated three mobile phones and a car, which is believed to have been utilized by the suspects for their illegal activities. Initial investigations suggest that the accused are part of a larger, organized counterfeit currency network.
Authorities are currently conducting a deeper probe to determine the origin of these fake notes and to check for potential links to inter-district or inter-state rackets. Further investigations are underway to identify other accomplices involved in the operation and to map out the entire supply chain and distribution routes of the illicit currency.
