Bajpe : In a major anti-corruption crackdown in the city, Police Inspector Balakrishna, stationed at the Bajpe police station in Mangaluru, was trapped red-handed by Lokayukta officials while accepting a bribe. The officer had reportedly demanded a sum of ₹25,000 to release money that had been seized from accused individuals in connection with an ongoing cheating case.
The trap was executed when the inspector was accepting an advance payment of ₹5,000 toward the total demand. Lokayukta officials caught Inspector Balakrishna red-handed at the moment of taking the bribe money, subsequently taking him into custody. Further legal proceedings and investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act are underway.
