Belthangady : The taluk faced severe disruption following relentless heavy rainfall since early morning, triggering a sharp surge in the Netravati River. By 6:00 PM, the water level abruptly climbed to 7.7 meters, quickly approaching the danger mark of 8.5 meters. With major tributaries and streams overflowing throughout the taluk, residents living along the riverbanks now face serious anxiety over potential flooding. Strong winds accompanying the torrential rain have also heightened fears among communities residing near forest borders due to the threat of falling trees.

The continuous downpour has triggered flash floods and property damage across various localities. Near Putrabailu on the Belthangady-Killur route, floodwaters submerged the road, significantly disrupting vehicle movement. In Neriya, the intense rainfall caused a retaining wall at the Seon Ashram to collapse, resulting in structural damages. Additionally, rainwater gushed into multiple shops in the Navoor market area as local drains and streams overflowed.

The situation remains critical in Mundaje and surrounding regions, which have borne the brunt of the storm. Swollen rivers and streams inundated vast stretches of paddy fields and plantations, leaving expansive agricultural lands submerged and causing severe crop loss for local farmers. Floodwaters also entered several houses and submerged low-lying vented dams across the taluk, severing crucial road connectivity between villages and leaving residents struggling to commute.
