Dharmashtla : Following the recently concluded Legislative Council elections, BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra expressed deep anguish over the cross-voting incidents that occurred despite both party candidates securing victories. Speaking to media persons during his spiritual visit to the holy town of Dharmasthala, Vijayendra acknowledged that the cross-voting by certain BJP legislators has triggered widespread political debates, causing immense pain to him and lakhs of dedicated party workers across the state.

Addressing the prior speculations about a political meeting in the temple town, the BJP chief confirmed that a legislative party meeting was initially planned to be held in Dharmasthala to address the internal crisis. However, out of deep respect for the guidance and counsel of senior party leaders, he decided to drop the plan and visited the sacred shrine purely as a humble devotee to offer prayers. Along with MLAs, MPs, and district party presidents, Vijayendra prayed to Lord Manjunatheshwara for the mitigation of the severe drought gripping the state, seeking abundant rainfall to uplift the lives of farmers and ensure scientific pricing for their agricultural produce. He also prayed for the establishment of a pro-people, development-oriented government that safeguards the interests of Hindus whenever the next assembly elections take place.

Vijayendra took the opportunity to strongly condemn the ongoing malicious campaigns on social media and news platforms suggesting an underlying friendship between him and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar as the reason behind the cross-voting. He categorically denied having any commercial, personal, or special relationship with Shivakumar, stating that he only extends the standard constitutional respect due to a Chief Minister and a KPCC President. Expressing disappointment that individuals within his own party circle were fueling these baseless rumors, Vijayendra asserted that functioning under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and central leaders, the question of him indulging in such low-level political tactics never arises.
