Belthangady : The popular Gadaikallu trekking destination in Belthangady taluk is set to welcome adventure enthusiasts once again starting Thursday. Although trekking had initially commenced on June 1st this year, it was briefly suspended due to unexpected technical issues. Following the successful resolution of these glitches, the Kudremukh Wildlife Division has officially reinstated permission for trekkers to scale the historic fort.
To ensure a seamless and safe experience, the forest department has introduced a mandatory online pre-registration system. Enthusiasts wishing to undertake the trek must register in advance through the official website of the Kudremukh National Park, as spot entries without prior booking will not be entertained. In the interest of environmental sustainability and visitor safety, the authorities have capped the daily footfall at a maximum of 500 trekkers. The entry window for the trek is strictly restricted between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM daily.
Trekkers are required to present a government-recognized photo identity card containing their address and date of birth at the entry point. Additionally, an entry fee of ₹50 per individual must be paid via offline mode at the counter. Given the ongoing monsoon season, wildlife officials have issued a cautionary advisory regarding slippery steps and rocks along the trail. Furthermore, the consumption of alcohol, smoking, and the carrying of plastic items have been strictly prohibited on the hill. Sharmishta, the Range Forest Officer (RFO) of the Belthangady Wildlife Division, confirmed that the 500-person limit has been implemented specifically to ensure a hassle-free and secure experience for all visitors.
