CISF Personnel at Mangaluru Airport Return Lost Pouch Worth Lakhs to Dubai Passenger

Mangaluru : Demonstrating high alertness and integrity, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Mangaluru International Airport traced a passenger and restored his misplaced pouch containing cash and valuables worth several lakhs of rupees on Sunday, July 26.

The lost item was first spotted during a routine sweep around 6:15 AM in the LGF parking area by security personnel Vittal Hosamani. Adhering to protocol, he alerted the CISF and the Arrival Quick Reaction Team (QRT), who immediately informed the Security Operations Control Centre (SOCC). Following a swift check by the Bomb Disposal Detection Squad (BDDS) and dog squad, the pouch was confirmed safe to open.

Inside, officials discovered a passport belonging to passenger Nishal Shahik, an iPhone, a gold ring, 500 Dirhams, $10,000 USD (equivalent to around Rs 9 lakh), bank cards, and a boarding pass. Shahik had just arrived from Dubai on Air India Express flight IX 814 at around 5:05 AM.

Although CCTV footage confirmed that the passenger had already exited the airport premises, CISF officers used the details from the boarding pass to obtain his contact number via the airline. They promptly contacted Shahik to inform him that his belongings were secure.

Upon returning to the airport, Shahik received his pouch after completing the necessary verification procedures. Overwhelmed by the swift and honest response, the passenger released a video message thanking and praising the CISF team for their exemplary service.
