New Delhi : An extensive investigation into the attack on police personnel during the protest in Delhi has uncovered significant details, following the detailed analysis of over 100 video clips. The footage, sourced from CCTV cameras at various locations as well as viral social media videos, was thoroughly examined by investigators to establish the identities and criminal backgrounds of those present at the demonstration sites. Based on this digital evidence, authorities identified a total of 2,873 individuals, with a astonishing 989 of them holding prior records for grave offenses including murder, attempted murder, robbery, dacoity, rape, crimes against women, Arms Act violations, kidnapping, snatching, and offenses under the NDPS Act.
The breakdown of the criminal records reveals a concerning presence of repeat offenders at the protest venues. Among those identified through the footage, 101 individuals have prior listings in murder cases, 62 in attempted murder cases, and 284 in robbery and dacoity cases. Furthermore, 61 individuals have past rape charges, 6 were listed under the POCSO Act, and 25 were named in cases involving harassment of women. Additionally, 229 individuals hold records under the Arms Act, 135 in theft cases, 19 in kidnapping cases, and 67 under the NDPS Act.
The investigation further highlights that a substantial number of these identified individuals are habitual and repeat offenders with multiple cases registered against them. According to the data, out of the 101 individuals involved in murder cases, 42 face two or more criminal charges, with 12 of them having 10 or more cases linked to their names. Similarly, 25 of the 62 individuals with attempted murder records have two or more cases registered against them. Among the 284 individuals linked to robbery and dacoity, 155 face two or more criminal charges, including 31 individuals who have been named in 10 or more criminal cases.
