Surathkal : In a major breakthrough, the Surathkal police have successfully tracked down and apprehended eight Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally crossed the international border and infiltrated Mangaluru. Acting on precise intelligence, law enforcement officials executed a targeted raid at a construction site located in Mukka, falling under the jurisdiction of the Surathkal police station. During the operation, the police launched a meticulous verification process of the identification papers of all 54 laborers working at the site, which ultimately exposed the illegal stay of these eight individuals.
The arrested foreign nationals have been identified as Mohammed Mukhtar Ali (36), Mohammed Rakibur Hossain (44), Mohammed Azharul Islam (36), Mohammed Jahid Hossain (18), Mohammed Belal Hossain (36), Mohammed Hasibul Hasan Shanto (37), Mohammed Sameyul Hasan (23), and Mohammed Saibur Rahman. Investigations revealed that all the accused are residents of the Godagari sub-district, located within the Rajshahi division of Bangladesh. They had sneaked across the Indo-Bangla border approximately three months ago, utilizing an infiltration route via Murshidabad in West Bengal to enter Indian territory.
To evade detection and secure employment, the group resorted to sophisticated forgery. They managed to procure genuine local Aadhaar cards belonging to West Bengal residents, carefully superimposed their own photographs onto them, and generated high-quality color photocopies to create fake identification documents. Armed with these fraudulent credentials, they arrived in the coastal city and had been working and residing under the guise of daily wage construction workers in the Mukka area for the past two months.
Due to growing suspicions surrounding their behavior and documentation, the police brought them to the station for an intense, high-level interrogation. The investigation paid off when officers discovered authentic Bangladeshi National ID cards, official birth certificates, and various other family documents hidden in their possession, confirming their actual nationality. The interrogation conclusively established that the men had migrated to Mangaluru illegally solely to find manual labor jobs. Following the completion of the initial procedures, the Mangaluru police have forwarded a comprehensive investigative report to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Bengaluru for further legal and deportation protocols.
