Election Commission Issues SIR Notice to Padma Shri Harekala Hajabba Over Name Mismatch

Mangaluru : Padma Shri recipient Harekala Hajabba, renowned nationally and internationally for his social work and educational revolution, has been served a notice by the Election Commission regarding the Special Summary Revision (SIR) process. The official inquiry stems from a discrepancy found between his past and present personal identification records.

In the 2002 electoral roll, his name was registered simply as “Hajabba.” However, all his current official identification documents—including his ration card, Aadhaar card, passport, and voter ID—carry his full name, “Harekala Hajabba.” Due to this name mismatch detected during the routine SIR verification, election officials issued the standard administrative notice to clarify the details.

Addressing the issue, Harekala Hajabba stated that a local Anganwadi worker handed him the notice in the morning, instructing him to present his documents at the Gram Panchayat on Friday, September 11. He expressed confidence in resolving the administrative oversight, confirming that he would visit the Gram Panchayat office on the designated date with all required verification papers.
