Mangaluru : The Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy is set to release the English translation of three prominent Tulu plays written by the legendary Dr. Amrutha Someshwara. The book release ceremony will take place on January 14 at 3:00 PM at the Sanidhya Hall of St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru. The plays—’Gondolu’, ‘Satyanapuratha Siri’, and ‘Raya Ravuthe’—have been translated into English by Dr. Sylvia Rego, a lecturer in the English Department at St. Aloysius University.
The work will be officially released by Dr. B.A. Viveka Rai, former Vice-Chancellor. The event will be presided over by Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, Vice-Chancellor of St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University). This initiative highlights the Academy’s effort to bring regional Tulu literature to a wider global audience through English translation.
Taranath Gatti Kapikad, President of the Tulu Sahitya Academy, will deliver the introductory remarks. According to the Academy’s press release, prominent personalities including Muddu Moodubelle, retired All India Radio programmer, and Dr. Chethan Someshwara, retired Associate Professor, will participate as chief guests.
