Udupi : A serious case of fraud has surfaced involving the unauthorized collection of funds in the name of the Nilavara Goshala, which operates under the aegis of the Pejawar Math. It has been reported that Shashidhar Bhat, an individual associated with the Udupi-based Bharateesha Jewellers and a member of the Govardhanagiri Trust, formed an unauthorized group called the “Nilavara Gograsa Seva Team” to solicit public donations.
According to reports, Bhat misused the Pejawar Seer’s photograph and the Math’s reputation to collect money from the public without the knowledge or consent of the Seer or the Trust. These activities were conducted entirely without official authorization, misleading donors who believed they were contributing to a legitimate cause under the Math’s supervision.
Taking swift action against these deceptive practices, the Govardhanagiri Trust has officially expelled Shashidhar Bhat from his position. The Trust has clarified that neither the Goshala nor the Math has any connection to Bhat or his unauthorized “Seva Team.” Lakshminarayana Rao, a trustee of the Pejawar Adhokshaja Math’s Govardhanagiri Trust, has issued a public statement urging citizens to be cautious and to ensure that they always obtain an official receipt from the Trust when making any donations to the Goshala.
