Udupi : A 67-year-old senior citizen found in a vulnerable state near the Achada railway tracks under the Kaup police station limits was rescued and admitted to the district hospital. The rescue operation was carried out by social worker Vishu Shetty Ambalapady with the assistance of Kaup Police Officer Manjunath Shetty.
The rescued individual has been identified as Shashi Shekhar Thakur, a native of Tamil Nadu. He was found undressed, exhausted, and unable to walk near the tracks, appearing to suffer from memory loss or severe depression. Upon receiving information about his situation, Vishu Shetty rushed to the spot and coordinated with the police to secure his safety.
During a search of his belongings, an identification card was recovered revealing that the gentleman is a retired Lieutenant Commander of the Indian Navy. His bag contained ₹47,000 in cash, his clothes, and official identity documents. Social worker Vishu Shetty has requested anyone with relevant information or his relatives to contact either the Kaup Police Station or the Udupi District Hospital immediately.
