Mangaluru Bar Association Welcomes Formation of High Court Bench Committee for Coastal Karnataka

Mangaluru : The Mangaluru Bar Association has warmly welcomed the decision of the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court to constitute a three-judge committee to examine the feasibility of establishing a Circuit Bench or a permanent bench of the Karnataka High Court in coastal Karnataka, covering regions including Mangaluru and Udupi. President of the Association, Jagadish K. Shenava, stated that this decision marks a significant milestone in fulfilling a long-pending demand of the region.

Elaborating on the benefits, Shenava pointed out that litigants and people from the coastal region currently have to travel all the way to Bengaluru to access judicial services at the High Court level. Establishing a High Court bench in Mangaluru would make justice far more accessible, while substantially reducing travel time and financial burdens for citizens seeking legal redressal.

Describing the recent official notification issued by the High Court as a crucial step forward after years of sustained advocacy, he noted that the newly formed committee will hold consultations with various stakeholders before submitting its comprehensive report. He reaffirmed that the Mangaluru Bar Association will extend all necessary cooperation and continue its constructive efforts to ensure that a High Court bench becomes a reality in Mangaluru.
