Mangaluru : The globally renowned Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra, traditionally celebrated with immense grandeur attracting millions of devotees in Puri, is all set to mesmerize the coastal city of Mangaluru. This year’s spectacular chariot festival is scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026, under the aegis of the ISKCON Sri Jagannath Mandir, Kudupu Katte. Temple committee member Prema Bhakti Das shared the details of the upcoming religious event during a recent press conference.
Driven by the divine vision and inspiration of ISKCON’s founder-acharya, Srila Prabhupada, this sacred chariot festival has transcended boundaries, being organized in major global metropolises such as New York, London, Los Angeles, Montreal, Mexico, and Melbourne. Across India, the yatra is successfully held in prominent hubs including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore, placing Mangaluru prominently on the global spiritual map this July.
A massive congregation of hundreds of national and international delegates is anticipated to converge in the city to participate in the celebrations. Elaborating on the guest list, Devadharma stated that the grand inaugural ceremony will be graced by senior ISKCON sanyasis alongside several prominent dignitaries and socio-cultural leaders from Mangaluru.
The majestic procession is scheduled to flag off at 3:30 PM from the Lady Hill Circle. The beautifully decorated chariot will trace a major route across the heart of the city, moving through the MCC Junction, TMA Pai Hall, PVS Circle, Navabharat Circle, Kodialbail, Hampankatta, Clock Tower, and City Centre Mall via K.S. Rao Road, before finally culminating at the Town Hall.
The grand chariot is expected to reach its final destination at the Town Hall by around 5:30 PM. Following the arrival, the organisers have arranged for the distribution of holy ‘prasadam’ to all the gathered devotees, which will be followed by a series of vibrant spiritual and cultural performances.
Highlighting the spiritual significance of the festival, the organizers referenced ancient scriptures which state that those who fortunate enough to pull the divine chariot of Lord Jagannath are liberated from the worldly cycle of birth and death. The temple committee has extended a warm invitation to all the citizens of Mangaluru to actively participate in this auspicious event and seek the blessings of the Lord.
