Grand Launch of Jayashree Krishna Parisara Premi Samiti’s Silver Jubilee in Mangaluru

Mangaluru : The Jayashree Krishna Parisara Premi Samiti, which has been working with a strong commitment to social causes, is an inspiration to others. The organisation has carved out a distinct identity for itself in the coastal region, and I congratulate it on completing 25 years of service, said Karnataka Minister for Energy and Tourism K. J. George.

Speaking after inaugurating the formal session of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Jayashree Krishna Parisara Premi Samiti (Regd.), held at Town Hall, Mangaluru, on September 6, under the leadership of Tonse Jayakrishna Shetty and the presidentship of Nityananda D. Kotyan, Minister George said that in the coastal districts, there had been only one month of officially scheduled power cuts during the last three years. Power disruptions during other periods could have been due to various unofficial reasons.

“Our effort is to ensure that the districts genuinely face no power shortage. When everyone joins hands with organisations such as this, comprehensive development of the coastal region will be possible,” he said.

He recalled the contributions of Srinivas Mallya and George Fernandes to the coastal region and said there was no doubt that the coastal districts would develop rapidly if more such individuals came forward.

Minister George also said that he and Health Minister U. T. Khader would bring to the attention of the Chief Minister the development proposals put forward by the Jayashree Krishna Parisara Premi Samiti for the coastal region, expressing confidence that the Chief Minister would respond positively.

Health Minister U. T. Khader, congratulating the Jayashree Krishna Parisara Premi Samiti on behalf of the people of the state and the district on its Silver Jubilee, said that he had been aware of the organisation since his student days, although he had not understood its importance at that time.

“The younger generation needs to understand the objectives behind the organisation’s struggle. Only then can large companies be established without obstacles, creating employment opportunities for the youth as well as contributing to the development of the region. A single development project can benefit everyone in its surrounding area,” he said.

He assured that, with the cooperation of the people, he would support the organisation’s development initiatives through Minister K. J. George.

Khader also urged the media to give greater importance to positive reporting. “If 10 per cent negative news is spread, it can damage the remaining 90 per cent of positive work,” he said. He appreciated the efforts of the team led by Tonse Jayakrishna A. Shetty, which, he said, was working with a vision of building a better coastal region in the future.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Ronald Colaco, NRI Distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Directors (India–Global), said that the coastal districts already had most of the infrastructure and facilities required for development, making progress relatively easier.

“Politics must be kept aside and attention should be focused on development. The government should constitute a task force comprising experts. If development is made the priority, this is certainly possible. I too will encourage and support such efforts,” he said.

Founder of the Jayashree Krishna Parisara Premi Samiti, Tonse Jayakrishna A. Shetty, said that the coastal region, which already possessed facilities conducive to comprehensive development, must first eliminate communalism.

“For this, the common people must cooperate with the government. A permanent solution must be found to coastal erosion, similar to the protection measures implemented along Mumbai’s Marine Drive. There should never be load-shedding here. The coastal region should receive 24-hour electricity supply,” he urged the ministers.

President Nityananda D. Kotyan, in his presidential address, highlighted the need for development in the district.

Among those present on the dais were Mangaluru MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, Karnataka Legislative Council Member Ivan D’Souza, MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, Coastal Development Board Chairman M. A. Gafoor, Bunts’ Association Mumbai President Praveen Bhoja Shetty, Vishwa Devadiga Mahamandala President Dharmapal U. Devadiga, Dubai-based industrialist Dr. David Frank Fernandes, the Samiti’s State Convener K. P. Jagadish Adhikari, Fundraising Committee Chairman Dr. R. K. Shetty, and Honorary Treasurer Sadananda N. Acharya.

District Working President Harish Kumar M. Shetty welcomed the gathering. Samiti spokesperson Dayasagar Chowta compered the programme, while Honorary General Secretary Mundkur Surendra Salyan delivered the vote of thanks. Anushree H. Shetty offered the prayer.

As part of the entertainment programme, Natyaranga, Puttur, presented a Natyalahari programme by a team led by Bharatanatyam artiste Manjula Subramanyam.
