
Mangaluru : The Karnataka Nair Service Society R. (KNSS), Mangalore Karayogam, celebrated the Onam Festival with great enthusiasm on 16 August 2026 at Kootakkal Bhagavathi Auditorium, Kodialbail, Mangalore.
The programme was presided over by the President of the Association, Mr. Murali Nair Hosamajalu. The Secretary of the Association, Mr. V. M. Satheesan, welcomed the distinguished guests.
The Chief Guest of the programme was Mr. Radhakrishnan Manikoth, a National Award-winning teacher and renowned orator. He appreciated the role of the Nair community in promoting Hindu society and Indian culture. He emphasized that upholding family values should be a priority in today’s society and appreciated the activities of the Mangalore Division of the Karnataka Nair Service Society and its close relationship with the local community.
President Mr. Murali Hosamajalu stated that the Onam celebration organised by the Karnataka Nair Service Society was a festival that brought together various Malayali organisations and local associations in Mangalore.
He further stated that Onam is not merely a festival, but also conveys the message of living together in harmony, unity and mutual respect, irrespective of caste, religion, politics or language. He highlighted the significant contribution of the Nair community towards the development of Mangalore, Karnataka and the country, in association with the people of Mangalore, and expressed the need to further strengthen and elevate these contributions.

Highlights of the Programme
A vibrant cultural programme was presented by the members of the association and the aviation students of Indian Group of Institutions, Mangalore. Members of the Nair community who had achieved excellence in various fields, along with families and talented students, were honoured in recognition of their achievements.
A traditional and delicious Kerala-style Onam Sadya was served to all the guests.
A special attraction of the celebration was the presence of artists dressed as King Mahabali, who is traditionally honoured during Onam, along with a beautiful floral Pookalam.
Traditional Onam games, including pot-breaking and tug-of-war, were organised especially for members of the Nair community.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Treasurer Sri. Ajay Kumar. The entire programme was compered by Smt. Navya Kurup, Smt. Sindhu, Smt. Greeshma and Smt. Sreeja Nambiar.
