Ramanagara : Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today announced that a compensation ranging from Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 2.5 crore per acre has been decided for farmers losing land in Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township project near Bidadi.
Releasing the logo and a handbook on Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township after a meeting with the officials at Ramanagara DC office, he said, “We have decided to compensate the farmers losing land as per the 2013 law. The district administration would fix the rates based on the proximity to the roads. In view of providing justice to the farmers, we have decided to take this decision which has not been taken in any local planning authority. For those not wanting to take compensation, it has been decided to provide 50% of the developed land.”
“Besides this, it has also been decided to provide annual sustenance allowance ranging from Rs 30,000 to 50,000 depending on the type of land – from the date of the notification to the date of developed land hand over. It has been decided to provide sites and Rs 25,000 grant to landless farmers and those who do not have any land records. Income tax exemption, stamp duty exemption are also offered,” he explained.
“The people will remember this historic decision. 78% of the farmers have consented for land acquisition, only 18% of the farmers are objecting to it. I apologise to them as my hands are tied due to the strict laws on de-notification,” he said.
First AI city
“Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township would become the first AI city in the country. It would be developed in an area of 9,000 acres and it would become the central business district of the city in the future. It is being developed on a work-live-play model,” he said.
“As much as 2,000 acres would be ear-marked for AI based industries and investors. Steps have been taken to design this as a zero-traffic town. Connectivity would be provided through 300-meter business corridor to STRR, NICE Road, Mysore-Bengaluru highway and Bengaluru-Dindigal highway. There is a plan to extend the metro as well,” he informed.
Priority for locals in employment
“Lakhs of new jobs are expected to be generated in this town and we have decided to adopt a locals first approach for employment. Skill centres would be open to train the locals in AI based roles. This town would shift a lot of commercial activities to the outskirts. In view of the inclusive development, it has been decided to retain residential areas in the township. Twenty six villages in the vicinity would also be developed,” he informed
“As many as 8,493 acres under nine villages is being utilised for this township. We are raising funds through BMRDA for this project. We will commence issuing compensation once we mobile Rs 20,000 crore funds.
