Kasaragod : In a tragic incident reported from Kuntageradka near Kumbla, a 26-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after being unable to cope with the loss of her fiancé, who passed away in a road accident recently. The deceased has been identified as Prafulla, daughter of Janardhan, a resident of Kuntageradka.
Prafulla had been engaged to Mani, a native of Tamil Nadu who worked in a bank, four months ago. Their wedding was scheduled to take place after November. However, tragedy struck a month ago when Mani met with a severe road accident after another motorcycle collided with his bike. Despite undergoing intensive treatment at a hospital for several days, he succumbed to his injuries.
Following Mani’s untimely demise, Prafulla had reportedly slipped into deep depression. On Sunday, while her family members were away attending a wedding function, she allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her residence. The heartbreaking incident came to light when the family returned home and found her lifeless.
The police have recovered a suicide note purportedly written by Prafulla. In the note, she expressed her final wish that her last rites be performed at the same location where Mani’s funeral took place. The Kumbla police conducted an investigation at the spot, and the body was sent to the Kasaragod General Hospital for a post-mortem examination before being handed over to the relatives.
