Moodbidri: A team of Moodbidri police has arrested Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Samit Raj from a commercial complex on Karkala Ananthashayana Temple Road.
On November 11, 2024, a road accident occurred on National Highway-169 near Moodbidri Mijaru. In the incident, Sumitra and her daughter Saanvi, who were riding a two-wheeler, were injured when a private bus named Master hit them. The bus driver’s reckless driving was blamed for the incident, and citizens expressed great anger at that time.
Citizens and activists of pro-Hindu organizations protested, creating a somewhat tense atmosphere. It is learned that Samit Raj Dharegudde was at the forefront of that protest.
The bus owner, who insisted on compensation for the injured, settled the dispute within hours of the accident by paying Rs. 5 lakh as compensation to the injured.
Meanwhile, the bus owner had filed a complaint with the Moodbidri police station, alleging that the bus had been damaged and that Rs. 5 lakh had been demanded from him. The police, who raised this issue, investigated and arrested Samitraj.
