Mangaluru : The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated with grandeur today by Rohan Corporation at the Rohan Square premises in Pumpwell.
The programme began at 8:00 a.m. with the flag hoisting ceremony. Employees, labourers, and local residents participated in large numbers, adding to the patriotic atmosphere. Retired Army Officer Subedar Appu Shetty hoisted the national flag.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rohan Monteiro, founder of Rohan Corporation, said, “Independence is not just a celebration for one day; it is a responsibility we must uphold every single day. It is essential for the younger generation to actively contribute towards nation-building.”
On this occasion, Retired Army Officer Subedar Appu Shetty was felicitated in recognition of his significant contribution to the nation. Accepting the honour, he said, “Serving the nation has been the proudest moment of my life. This recognition will keep the memories of my service alive even in my retired life. Education, career, and wealth are only parts of life — today’s youth must also keep the goal of serving the nation close to their hearts.”
Director Mr. Dion Monteiro and General Manager Ms. Sumana were present for the programme.
