Bantwal : In a remarkable display of humility and commitment to work, a civic sanitation worker from Dakshina Kannada district routinely arrives for his daily street-sweeping duty driving a luxury Toyota Fortuner. Sesappa Navoor, popularly known as Sesappanna, drives his own vehicle to B.C. Road in Bantwal, parks it near the local police station, and immediately picks up his broom to clean the town’s streets. Upon completing his daily sanitation work, he heads back home in the same high-end SUV by afternoon.
Starting his journey on a daily wage of just 50 rupees and once struggling even to cover basic family expenses, Sesappa built his current financial stability through relentless hard work, agriculture, and dairy farming over the past thirty years. His lifelong passion for automobiles saw him progress from riding a bicycle to successively owning a Maruti 800, Omni, Ritz, Alto, and Scorpio. Recently, he upgraded by purchasing a second-hand Toyota Fortuner valued at around 35 lakh rupees.
Despite his newfound affluence, Sesappa remains deeply grounded in his core belief that “work is worship.” Unswayed by pride or status symbols, he continues to report for civic duty at 5:00 AM every morning near the B.C. Road court area. His belief that no honest labor is big or small serves as an inspiring lesson in dignity of labor and humility for the entire region.
